Black Check Splash Cock … 960/10 AU RRVF ... Son of MW Classic Outstanding Bird <p>

Let’s start with this issue. Some people complain that real performance pigeons never come up on this auction. Well, here’s a real performance pigeon from a family of real performance pigeons. In fact, the sire was voted the Outstanding Bird in the 2007 Midwest Classic because he was 1st in the 500M Class (flying 531M on the day) by 41 minutes.

This 960 cock flew for two years for David Torkildson, who lived in the Fargo, ND area. When David’s club broke up in 2011, he also decided to retire from pigeons and spend his winters in Arizona. So he sold all his best birds to a friend of mine, who passed away six months later. These great Torkildson pigeons came to me and have been bred on a limited basis. Living in Duluth, MN (with no local club), I have done private training and testing, as well as one-loft races (on a very small scale).

The 960/10 cock is a medium, buoyant pigeon with a bright, responsive orange eye. I have an excellent blue bar son in my breeding loft when I crossed 960 into my NAPOLEON (2nd National Ace NL ’97) family. The 960 cock was 2nd 99M v 69 birds and 4th 159M v 78 birds as a YB (diplomas included). He also flew 531M in the 2011 Midwest Classic (but I have no placement record for that).

The sire is 5470/05 … CLASSIC 07 … voted Outstanding Bird in the 2007 Midwest Classic v 3,570 pigeons from several Midwestern states. CLASSIC 07 earned his name and his title by topping the 500M class by 41 minutes. He is a mix of Calia Janssen and Verbruggen that really showed he can get out front and win! Furthermore, in the Extreme Selection Program I set up for YBs in 2014, he was the 1st place sire!

The 960 cock is the first son of CLASSIC 07 I have ever offered for sale. I have the son and also the full sister (934/10) that was my highest-rated breeding hen in the 2014 ESP YB series.

The dam of 960 is the Jan Aarden full sister of the dam of David Torkildson’s 700M cock. This bird (9822) was 1st 680M (2nd day) in 2011. The dam of 960 was an inbred hen from Stan Culligan’s Aarden family that he used for his distance cross when he flew in northern California.

If you purchased this cock and the 44542/14 hen (also in this auction), you would have a great pair of pigeons (both children of CLASSIC 07) that should produce both flyers and breeders.
